Special Issue Completed: Spatial Humanities and Contemporary Geographical Approaches
Dear Readers,
We’re excited to announce the completion and release of our latest special issue, “Spatial Humanities and Contemporary Geographical Approaches,”! This issue brings together a diverse range of articles exploring the fascinating intersection of geography and the humanities.
The accepted manuscripts were submitted to and reviewed by the European Journal of Geography (EJG) and is based on previous work presented (as a talk or poster) at the Spatial Humanities 2024 Conference, held at Otto-Friedrich University of Bamberg, Germany, in September 2024. The conference focused on the incredible contributions of geospatial technologies, like Geographic Information Systems (GIS), to humanities research. It was a space where we explored how these tools, methods, and approaches are pushing the boundaries of knowledge within and beyond the digital humanities.
A huge thank you to the conference organizers, participants, and the thoughtful discussions that took place, which were key in shaping the work presented in this issue. We’d also like to express our gratitude to the Guest Editors, Dr. Seraphim Alvanides (Germany), Dr. Joana Catarina Vieira Paulino (Portugal), and Dr. Alexandros Bartzokas-Tsiompras (Greece), as well as the anonymous reviewers for their insightful feedback during the review process, which helped refine the articles and bring out their best.
